"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe" - John Muir

In this brand new script by alumna Jes Marbacher (Well-Behaved Women), the NHTP Junior Repertory Company takes audiences on a whirlwind tour through the history of American environmental activism.  Best friends Olive and Henry go out in search of frogs in their favorite brook, but instead they find trash - and a time traveling recycling bin. Thus begins their whirlwind adventure through the history of environmentalism. Determined to discover the secret to saving their brook, the kids meet John Muir, Teddy Roosevelt, and Sylvia Earle among others along their madcap journey through time and space. The more they travel, the more they realize the truth behind John Muir's words.

Playwright Jes Marbacher says:  The play spans over 100 years of history and introduces a new generation to the environmental champions of the past. But while the struggle to preserve the Earth is not a new one, our responsibility to protect the planet grows every year. And it grows more difficult the longer we wait. We can learn from the environmental advocates of the past: we don't have to be perfect, but we do have to try harder to protect the only Earth we have. There's no better time to take up the mantle.

Hitched to Everything is directed by Meghann Beauchamp, assisted by alumna Mary Langley and Senior Rep intern Eliza Klein. Performers include Elise Gillis of Newmarket, Mischa Landgarten of Kittery Point, Kalani Lohndorf of Stratham, Hana Sclar of Dover, and Amelie Logue & Cleo Podrasky of Portsmouth.
