Kristen Russell received her English degree from Plymouth State University. She is an arts educator, director, event coordinator, and photographer. She teaches English and Theatre at West High School in Manchester, NH. She has been director of Theatre Knights, New Hampshire’s premiere young people’s theatre company, since 2017. In that time, she has produced, directed, and designed sets for many productions including The Dining Room, Shrew! The Musical, Aladdin Kids!, Almost Maine, and Play On!. Co-creating the first Theatre Arts Summer Program for the Manchester School District, she immersed members with intensive workshops covering all aspects of theatre, culminating with the production. Her current work for NHTP involves creating classes in set design and characterization, developing the Practicum Community Outreach program, and collaborating to reshape the artist-in-residence program.
NHTP’s values attracted me from the start because I am very passionate about giving back to the community by using the arts as a platform. Theatre is such a creative outlet that can serve as a common ground for all ages in a variety of settings. My work has always centered around collaboration and this is exactly why I got involved with NHTP.
