West End Players - Ages 10-14
Winter Trimester Theme based on 
Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

For those ages 10 to 14 who want a fun, supportive, hands-on introduction to acting and the theatre arts, NHTP’s West End Youth Players work collaboratively to create a brand new dramatic work around a chosen theme, incorporating writing, acting, directing, movement, music and art.

For serious students interested in both personal growth and learning about the fundamentals and power of theatre, NHTP’s Youth Repertory Company emphasizes the ensemble aspects of performance as well as the process of exploring theatre as a craft, focusing on technique and collaboration rather than “spectacle.”

Teen Theatre Camp: Strangers in a Strange Land

Ages 12-17 Limited to 20 Campers
July 8-13, 2019 - 10am-4pm
Final performances July 12-13 @ 7 pm
Fee: $400 early bird  $450 after June 1, 2019
The theme for this year’s incredibly popular camp will be "Strangers in a Strange Land" - exploring issues of inclusion and exclusion through comedy and drama, with both improvised and written texts.  Campers work together to write and perform an ensemble show drawn from participants’ own personal life stories and social issues.

Youth Theatre Camp: The World of Beatrix Potter

Final performances July 20 @ 7 pm, July 21 @ 11 am

NHTP’s most popular camp has been a favorite of seacoast children for 24 years! The 2019 Youth Theatre Camp will focus on the world of author Beatrix Potter. Campers will perform plays and scenes inspired by Potter's beloved characters and stories. Interested campers will also have the opportunity to perform at the July 27 Beatrix Potter Day celebration at Wentworth Coolidge Mansion. 
 
Little Mermaid Camp

Final performances Aug 2 @ 7 pm, Aug 3 @ 11 am & 7 pm, Aug 4 @ 2 pm

Brand new this year!  NHTP alumni Josh Goldberg has written an original musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of The Little Mermaid.  (NOTE:  Based on the original story - This is NOT the Disney version).  Campers will learn acting, music and dancing skills as they prepare for the final performance. 
 
A Collaboration between NHTP & Portsmouth Music & Arts Center 
 Directors: Erin Smith (Voice) & Catherine Stewart (Theatre & Movement)
Ages 8-12 Limited to 20 Campers
July 29 to August 2, 2019 9 am to 3 pm at PMAC
Final Performance: Friday, August 3 @ 4 pm - at NHTP/WEST

A smash hit since 2016, our collaboration with Portsmouth Music & Arts Center gives campers the opportunity to delve into the world of musical theatre through singing, acting, and movement. Campers will explore existing musical repertoire –  old favorites and modern classics, as well as drama techniques including improvisation and group writing to create their very own brand new musical.
