According to the American Psychological Association, the suicide rate in the United States rose by 33% between 1999 and 2016. This tragedy crosses all boundaries – age, gender, economic status – and its effect on loved ones often compounds the difficulties. Tim Barretto’s play Final Thoughts focuses on a successful writer’s decision to end his life and the effects of this shattering choice on his family.
