Michael Cobb, a past coach for the Shakespeare Theater, Guthrie Theater, and Denver Center Theater Company will offer both beginners and those more experienced in acting Shakespeare’s work an opportunity to explore classical text performance.
The workshop will introduce various conservatory-level acting exercises and coaching in embodying, clarifying, and activating Shakespeare verse materials based on the interests and needs of those attending. Those who want to work on a specific monologue or soliloquy are encouraged to bring the text, however this is not a requirement. Participants should dress to move, and all-abilities are welcome.
Have a monologue or soliloquy you’re working on? Bring it in! If not, no worries, all welcome and encouraged! Please bring a ball with some weight (if possible), and two copies of your monologue/soliloquy (if relevant).
Michael has appeared in leading and featured roles at Tony award-winning Trinity Rep (under both Adrian Hall and Anne Bogart), the Dallas Theatre Center, the Public Theater, and PBS, among many others. Michael is listed on the Teaching Artist Roster for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and recently directed at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse.
Private coaching is available after the session and can be booked by contacting NHTP. Those sessions will run 1:30-5:30 pm with a fee of $100/hour.
